Where To Surf...

The Llyn Peninsula has several surf beaches, with the most popular one being Porth Neigwl or Hell's Mouth as it is also known. This 4 mile southwest facing beach has good access via Llanengan and picks up the most swell in the area. Our surf school often operates from this beach (see below for details). Check out our surf report page for information on the latest surf conditions.

We are a member of the RNLI/BSA Safe Hire Scheme. Under certain conditions, hire is not available - so if you are travelling - please check with us first to see whether we are likely to be hiring on a paticular day.
To Hire surfboards and body boards you must be able to swim 50m in open water.

Open From April - November

We operate a BSA approved surf school - Abersoch Surf School. Lessons are generally held at Porth Neigwl (Hell's Mouth) and run from April until the end of November.

All our instructors are qualified Surf Lifeguards and British Surf Association Level 2 qualified instructors.


A half day beginners course includes beach, board and water safety with detailed instructions and tips on catching, standing and riding white water waves.
Participants must be over 8 years old and be able to swim 50m in open water.

Coaching is also available from intermediate to advanced level.

We use"Swell" foam boards approved by the BSA and they are included in the lesson price. The boards are soft and buoyant, both important factors when learning to surf.
Price also includes, use of warm winter 5/3 steamer wetsuit and wetsuit boots.

We also provide improver lessons up to BSA level 2 .
